Support the provision of Basic Skills learning opportunities

  • To enable 11,750 adults to achieve literacy and numeracy qualifications [Local Targets]
  • Joint projects developed with Sector Skills Councils and NHS Workforce Development Confederation, which identify Basic Skills learners and provide appropriate training. [Participation Strategy]
  • Capacity building and demonstration projects to increase the range and accessibility of first step learning including basic skills within voluntary and community sector organisations supported, and moving into mainstream funding. [Skills and Participation Strategies]
  • Consortium of voluntary and community sector organisations developed which is geared to the achievement of the Council's strategic objectives through effective collaboration and engagement of the hard to reach. [Participation Strategy]

  • Effective action plans, which target deprived areas, developed with partners for Warrington, Winsford and Ellesmere Port and Neston. [Participation Strategy]
  • Implementation of local Learning Plans e.g. Warrington Learning Plan, Winsford Learning Plan, and Area Study Action Plans supported. [Learning Strategy]
  • Work with existing 'interim' CoVEs to ensure Colleges gain full CoVE status to support learners and employers in relevant sector. [Skills Strategy]
  • Consortia of FE college, schools, employers and private training providers established offering integrated education and training opportunities. [Learning Strategy]
  • Increased involvement of private training providers in addressing "Skills for Life".

  • Encourage and support appropriate partners to capitalise on the attraction of ICT as a medium for learning. [Participation Strategy]
  • Contribute to the establishment of the 'virtual' Basic Skills professional development unit for the region. [Participation Strategy]
